Who needs sand?

So Damian decided to work on the garden today, as we are making it bigger and better from what it already is.  We had to go out and get the top soil and we picked up the compost yesterday.  Got the top soil into the ute was a great price too so cheap.  Lukas decided he could help daddy and climbed into the ute with his spade and started digging but this turned into Lukas' play dirt, he was having a blast.  When they showed me I gave him his rake and he then wanted something else so i brought out his trucks his Aunty gave him a few years ago now for the sandpit and he had a blast.

Once Damian did up the part of the garden that he wanted to do this time around, there was some dirt left in the ute so we have decided to put the dirt in the sandpit clams so he had dirt to play with.  He will love this because after all he is a boy that's loves having fun and this keeps him happy for hours, I believe he was outside in the ute for a couple of hours playing.  It has a lid that will go over top to keep the cats out of it.

I'm very proud of what Damian has done in the garden cause its what i actually wanted in the first place.  Once the garden we have is finished we will sort that out with lime to break up the clay and then newspaper down to kill the weeds and then topsoil with compost again.  Will step by step that one up to with concrete steps down the middle so we can walk and pick the veges that grow.

This is how it looked Last year when we started making a garden.  Just a rectangle with the veges in it, the garden picked up well.

Today our garden now looks like this.  All the stuff that is grown is in the garden which we made above, all the stuff that is new is what has just been done, including fitting in a blueberry tree.

The rest of that area will look like this too once its all harvested and getting ready for the next lot of veges and fruit.

We have started since the 1st Jan doing board games with the kids before dinner.  Todays game i would like to mention is a new game and no-one had played it before "priates treasure hunt"..  Now I was out in front, its very rare I win a game but yesterday I won "go piggy go" and today i was almost winning this game so excited.  But you see in the photos, that top row it has a black cross bones 2 spaces before the finish?  YUP well everyone was at the bottom of the board still and I was at the top and yup landed on that DARN cross bones, of course in the end i came last lol and Damian won.  I will get them next time :P

And of course todays photo challenge is Friends. This photo was taken January 2013 and we used for this photo challenge as my kids weren't around their friends today.  So this is my boy Lukas with his best friend Jayden

Change of plans

Isn't it funny how things you plan don't work out but sometimes turns out to be the best plan in the end?

Well today we had that happen, we planned to head to the wave pools and a good 25-30 minutes because I clicked my wallet wasn't with us, which meant no pools as Damian didn't have his card with him either.  So I remembered seeing a water-park so off we went to Mt Albert to the water-park since the kids had togs and towels already.

So we found Potters Park and off the kids went.

The kids enjoyed this park its 2 in 1, a water park and a normal park.  Next time we go it will be with a packed lunch to spend a bit more time there.

We of course did another walk tonight after dinner and the kids are seeming to enjoy that as-well which is a bonus, tonight's walk was to the dairy for an ice-block for pudding and then up and around the block.  Lukas found a pine cone and that had to come home so it did, it was used as a soccer ball down the driveway.

Then of course Day 2 of the photo challenges.  Today was "SILLY" and the kids did a great job of that at the water[park, Dakota standing over a water spray when it wasn't on, it was turned on and well Dakota got a shock.  Lukas decided his hat had to go over his eyes while walking around, silly billies

Welcome 2014

First day of a new year, so time does move pretty fast have so much happening this year.

So this year of course will go fast again I'm pretty sure, it seems as I get older the years go faster I have NO idea why.  I start my second year of study, and of course in 11 months time my baby will turn 5 SCARY.  In between we have one turning, Damian and I turn 29 and there will be many more things happening.

So I don't really make resolutions for each new year cause lets face it I never stick to them so nothing major going on with that BUT in saying that.
  • I want to do a monthly photo challenge for the whole year (starting today YES)  So i have gone though Google finding lots of different ones that were done throughout different years and have downloaded them and sorted them into my months, so when I post them they might have a different year on them, and I don't care. Will also put my challenge photos on Facebook :)
  • I also want to go for nightly walks as a family prob after dinner, then the kids will come home for a shower, bed to read and then get a story with lights out about 7.30-8pm depending on what time we get our A into G.  Of course when school and daycare starts up this will be relooked at for timings.
  • Also I want to carry on doing really well in my course so that means I need to do less face-book time and more study time.  But in saying that there is only so many times you can actually look at paper and write things down and I did well last year so I cant really complain on how I studied.
  • I want to get my Tiger cross stitch finished, once again prob less computer time for that, would be AWESOME if that was finished by the time I go back to study on the 17th Feb 2014 so I really have 6 weeks to do it.  Once again A into G for that.  (will put up a photo on what I have done so far, down further).
So really just a few little things LOL, but they are all doable I think.

Being the first of the month and the year, we got stuck into doing some major cleaning and sorting out to start the new year on a high. First step was changing our lounge where the kids toys were to our dining area and the kids area to the dining area.  We have done a bit and the rest is waiting to be cleaned up more as we go though everything.

New dining space

new kids area, looking from front door, yes needs a good clean up, still sorting out

looking in from hallway

Looking from kitchen

Then today we did our first walk for the year around the block and a stop at the park.

I haven't forgotten about the monthly photo challenge so I'm going to pop it on this post.

So my January challenge is

So enjoy 2014 :)

At mums

At mums for dinner tonight, both kids ate their home-made burgers that they made themselves so they got ice-cream.  Its been a while since they have had ice-creams in a cone cause normally Lukas eats it from the bottom up and gets it everywhere.

Tonight he ate it like everyone else, still made a mess but not as much as normal lol.

Photos say it all

So the burgers

Then the ice-creams

Then I got the old computer from mum for the kids and games.  With it all set up at home.  Mum gave me heaps of games to go though as-well these ones are just a small taste of what I need to go though and see what works and what doesn't work.
