Cardboard people

While the kids were watching cartoons in the morning, which is rare because they dont really get to watch it in the mornings, but they were watching barney and they did cardboard cut outs.  Both children decided they wanted to do this, lucky for them i had just had a fridge delivered and had the big box so just cut that up.

Each child lay down and i drew around them and then they decorated themselves using all sorts.  Fabric, glue, glitter, paint and even bells.

After a few hours of them doing their art they finished and they were really happy with them.

Today while they weren't home i cut out their people, rough cut as i didn't want them to rip while they were hung up and put them on their bedroom doors, That's where they wanted them.

I think they look cool, being on their doors means they can add to them if they wanted to

Hunting around

The kids went outside this morning to play in the dirt pit.  They moved some dirt over into the other shell so they had a shell each. They were digging and playing and when i went out to check on them, Lukas tells me he is going a treasure hunt.  I went inside to find them something and got some of Damians poker chips for them to hide and find.  30mins later Damian and I went outside to hide the chips for the kids and once they found all their ones we would get them showered and head out for a ice-block and go to the gardens.

Kids were excited about this idea and off they ran so we could hide their chips.  Back they came into their shells and started searching, digging, raking and Dakota even got daddy to help her.

After 3 hours of playing in the dirt and in the last 15mins they found their chips we hid for them

Time for a shower and clean up, especially with Lukas and his cast we have to clean that out and its easier to put him in the shower for that.  Then off to the gardens for an ice-block.

We went to the gardens as the have sculpture's in the gardens which are there at the moment, they finish on the 16th Feb 2014.

We followed the trail and it was like another hunt, the kids would find the signs for us to follow to make sure we were going the right way, and stopping at the sculptures on the way.  We didnt get all the way around as we had to be somewhere else so will go back to have another look so there will be a part 2 of this.

Found ducklings and Dakota decided to sing to them "5 little ducks" so we watched them for a while.  They would keep diving under the water and coming back up, man they went down deep and stayed there for a while

It was a nice walk though the garden and was interested to see the art.  The kids would stop and talk about certain pieces not all of them.  This last photo they talked about for ages, about the boats, and the man that fell off the boats and the boats came from the tunnel and bridge.  Was very interesting and the people on the bridge with us just smiled while they listened too.

After all this it was off to my parents place for a BBQ and a good time and yup there was a GOOD time had.  There is this thing my stepdad does and its the condom over the head trick, where you pick one over your actual head and blow it up.  He tried this tonight but it broke, so Damian gave it a go and got it up a bit.  Of course mums friend did it too and she got it pretty big (wont put her photo up).  But to see what i mean ill put Damian up.

It was a great night, yummy food, great company, my friend was there with 3 of her kiddies, my sister, and a friend of my parents with two of her daughters and a boyfriend (one of the daughters boyfriend LOL).

'

And of course once again.  Day 4 of my photo challenge for January is Happy.  Now nothing in the rules says you HAVE to be smiling to be happy.  So my kids were having a blast this morning dressing up and were so happy they were singing their pretend friends and having a birthday party with them.

Change of plans

Isn't it funny how things you plan don't work out but sometimes turns out to be the best plan in the end?

Well today we had that happen, we planned to head to the wave pools and a good 25-30 minutes because I clicked my wallet wasn't with us, which meant no pools as Damian didn't have his card with him either.  So I remembered seeing a water-park so off we went to Mt Albert to the water-park since the kids had togs and towels already.

So we found Potters Park and off the kids went.

The kids enjoyed this park its 2 in 1, a water park and a normal park.  Next time we go it will be with a packed lunch to spend a bit more time there.

We of course did another walk tonight after dinner and the kids are seeming to enjoy that as-well which is a bonus, tonight's walk was to the dairy for an ice-block for pudding and then up and around the block.  Lukas found a pine cone and that had to come home so it did, it was used as a soccer ball down the driveway.

Then of course Day 2 of the photo challenges.  Today was "SILLY" and the kids did a great job of that at the water[park, Dakota standing over a water spray when it wasn't on, it was turned on and well Dakota got a shock.  Lukas decided his hat had to go over his eyes while walking around, silly billies

Can you paint it?

This afternoon we got out the paints and let the kids do some painting on the windows, they are really good and keep it only to the windows normally, but today they decided they had to be painted of course and they painted the water table...lucky enough i put dish washing liquid into the paint for easy wash up.

Dakota the smurf

Washing up

Painting canvas as well as windows

Kids masterpiece.  Dakota did the left side and Lukas did the right side

To end the day a lovely sunset
