Summer is here

Yup summer is finally arriving in New Zealand and of course christmas is on its way too 13 more days so I'm told.

We started this day off by doing the magic crystal trees the kids loved these they didnt take long to start showing crystals.

Dakota asked if she could have a blue tree so we put a bit of colour into the bottom of her lid and when Lukas got home and saw Dakota has blue he asked for a red one.  They look great, I wasnt too sure it was going to work but it has.

Dakota had speech today the last one for the year and as a proud parent I am beaming from ear to ear as my daughter says words that can be understood.

Dakota doing her M words.

She is doing an awesome job even her speech lady is so proud of her

Since it was a nice hot day I set up the pool and slide for the kids to have some summer fun, had to take the shade off the pool cause Lukas kept hitting his head lol.  He finally has learnt to duck.

Since it was such a nice day I decided we could have a semi BBQ type dinner without using the BBQ lol
Chicken nibbles
Vege stack
Salad with lettuce from the garden
Beetroot

Was so good the kids just kept helping themselves was a nice dinner with no yelling or mucking around.

Then ice-blocks afterwards, Lukas hates smoothies and will scream if you put it in front of him so I thought I would try it as ice blocks, funny enough he loved it.  I also love the lollitups from tupperware cause they hold all the melted juices inside instead of all down the arms

Overall been an AWESOME day

Thinking

Yesterday I got my fruit and veges and it came in two boxes this time, great for the kids.

These boxes today made a stage while they were singing with the Polkadots.  They were also their turtle shells.

I gave the kids small pencils to draw on it, but banging holes into the boxes were more fun, next thing I know the kids are into the games cupboard pulling out the threading show laces and threading in the boxes.

I thought they were so clever and of course they did too.

So if your child is bored and you have run out of ideas on what to do with them, thread though a box with shoe laces. LOTS OF FUN, they did this for 1.5 hours believe it or not.

Old loves

Well almost 2 years ago Lukas turned 1 and we brought him a carry case with 9 blocks in it.  These blocks have rattles, mirrors etc on them.  3 triangles, 3 squares and 3 circles.

Since I pulled the toy out and put it in his room I find him playing with it lots, building with them, shaking them, looking at the faces and making the animal noise, counting them, well making anything with them.

Its good to see them pull out toys they had when they were younger and play with it.

What a busy day!!!!

Well we started off the day by going to MOTAT with preschool that was good, sadly only got to see a few things, the classroom making things, the funtime play area and the tram.

The kids had fun at Motat but I will be taking them again at some point so they can see more things...and the trains Lukas was a little upset he didnt see the trains.

Once back at the preschool the 4 year olds (afternoon session) had the option of staying for the session or heading home, Dakota chose to come home.

Once we got home, it was time to put our HUGE pile of inorganics out and yup put the kids to work lol.  They loved taking things to the top of the driveway and running down for the next item.

Once that was done mum pulled out her accordion which was her grandfathers to pull it to bits and see how it works instead the kids were interested so mum showed them how it worked and they had a turn too.  (it is out of tune though)

Once they had enough of that, outside was calling them, its not the hottest day nor the coldest so off they went, pegs, waterballs and well anything else they could find to play with.

Then Finally after a good amount of time playing nicely outside and actually being good today for longer than 10mins, I brought them inside as its getting a bit cold for a movie.

They are watching HOP.

This will keep them quite for a bit longer :)
