6:08pm – The number of deaths is now at 98 according to police. They were able to release the names of four people who have been confirmed as dead.

Joseph Tehau Pohio, 40-year-old ChCh man

Jamie Robert McDowell-Gilbert, 22yo

Jayden Harris, 9mth old baby

Baxter Gowland, 5 month old baby

The first two men were taken to Christchurch Hospital after the quake and passed away due to injuries.

“At present I can confirm that we have received a total of 98 bodies,” he said.

226 people are still missing, which includes the 98 dead.

This is really really sad, and they are still waiting to name more.

Its so hard to just sit and listen. cant do much from Auckland:(

6.3 earthquake 

This is really sad i dont have words at all.

just glad that all my friends are safe and sound.

Wish there was more i could do but really there isnt.

BUT

I am helping a friend out with getting a package together for her friend, so im going to be sewing a few hobby caddys together and sending them down, they have lost everything, there house was destroyed, not only that i will send a few other items too, like a book or two.
