100 photo challenge - Day 49

A day you remember really well

As sad as this is, the day i remember really well was 14th Feb 1995, we were eating dinner in the lounge and heard noise, mum thought it was the dogs playing, but they were next to me on the floor, then i smelt smoke and yelled FIRE, mum went to check came back and we were getting taken out the front door...

Well once the fire was put out and everything dumped out of the house, this is what was left

Now i was 9.5 years old so i might have a few details wrong, mum will prob correct me if i do...

It started in the kitchen which is where most of that mess is in the front there, my room was gutted as it was next to the kitchen...We lived in a motel for a while, as this house was pulled down and a new house was built in its place...

We had 3 dogs, mum got one dog our the lounge window by going around and smashing the window, another came out with a fireman and the last she was under a couch and died (she was one that had been fostered out too)...The funny thing all the fish lived.

It was hard and we didnt go to school for a few days, and i wish i didnt go back for weeks, as the day we did go back i was asked by the teacher to stand up in front of the class to say what had happened, wasnt my idea of fun...

So yup this classes as something i will never forgot and will always remember, sometimes i can still see the flames going and my dad on the front step on the phone to 111...and watching my parents remove two cars from the side of the house as the one blocked in was LPG, and the keys to the cars were well on the table in the kitchen, they did get the cars out...

I can still see ALL the people that came and saw what had happened, neighbours outside watching their house as it was close to their house, we were in our nighties and we were lucky to have a friend take us to their place to give us some warmer clothes, then we headed to mums friend place where we stayed for a couple of days i think it was..

So yup, thats my memory
