Being a parent to Dakota and Lukas

You really never know what your parents went though until you go though it yourself, the good and the bad.

Having a 16mth age gap between Dakota and Lukas has taught us alot.

Both kids seem to be at the same stage alot of the time, both kids been checked over and tested and are about 1.5 years advance their age which is great news for us but also down news as i start running out of ideas for the kids and gotta dig up google for it to tell me what else i can do.

We have down moments with tanties, that NO word and then playing up for us o and the fighting cant forget the fighting.  It does balance out with Dakota sitting next to you and putting her arm around you, Lukas running up and giving cuddles and kiss taking off and back round for another almost knocking you to the ground.

You get those fun times like last night when daddy got home from night shift at 7.10pm and we all went outside for a play, kicking the balls around and throwing them at each other, tackling one another the kids loved this did it was 30-40mins

Then you have a moment when someone tells you they are just wonderful and beautiful children which makes you feel great cause they are YOUR children after all.

Even though they are naughty at home and OMG can they be naughty, testing everything possible, but they do like to help clean up at times...yup just sometimes other times its another fight.  They are normally very well behaved when out...Like today we got some family photos done by a lake and the kids were good they listened they sat and didnt go near that water, while out at dinner for my brother in laws 21st birthday they were pretty well behaved since they had sat at the table from 6-8pm which is a LONG time for them.

But what really makes me smile is when they work out things for themselves, you can see they trying to work it out, thinking about it and really wanting to get it right, like Dakotas countdown till my mum, nana and sister get here, she wakes up each morning and runs to me telling me how many more sleeps and i dont tell her, she is counting backwards on her own...

OR

Like today when they decided i needed to wear a headband, Dakota then took the camera

"say cheese mummy"

We have been faced with challenges being the parents of Dakota and Lukas, 3 ops each before they were two, only cried for the first one which was Dakotas hip she was under for 2.5hours and was only 4mths old, after that i was a pro at taking my kids into the room using the mask and getting them to sleep..

We have had to change Dakotas diet at a week before she was 2 to Gluten Free, being a Coeliac she cant have gluten, wheat, barley, rye, oats, malt so its been a big learning experience on what we can and cant feed her, learning how to explain to a young child she cant have the same as everyone else, we have been really good with this and Dakota never cared she is almost 4 now and has now noticed everyone eats different things than her and has been asking if she can have it too, so back to the talking about and explaining why she cant have something...normally saying you will get sick helps ALOT.

Lukas is now going to be going for a bi opsy at some point soon to find out if he has Coeliacs too as his bloods came back funny, doctor said he has a 98% chance of having it as its in the family (Damians side).

Both kids are growing at a fast rate and before we know it they will both be at school, both learning alot.  Dakota is working hard with her speech so her teachers when she starts school will understand her and well everyone else...

Sorry its all a jumble but its how it comes to my head so i write it lol.
